The District has not been utilizing a replacement cycle for HVAC units. Leveraging relationships between architects and HVAC experts, we are working to identify metrics to help identify units that need planned replacements rather than relying on a break/fix mentality. We have already identified units on CES and CBMS that are either undersized, inefficient or aged beyond repair.

Currently, CIS is the only campus that has a centrally-managed HVAC system. Adding these controls to the other campuses will allow us to set temperature ranges, unoccupied zones and other features to become more energy efficient. Additionally, most classrooms lack a functioning thermostat to make temperature adjustments as needed. Further, adding a centralized management system will give us advanced reporting features to better identify problems, or potential problems, with units and will provide more predictability in the budgeting and replacement process.
